     Odell S. Daniels, IC1(SS) - Passed away July 3, 2009 in Pocatello, Idaho.
               Born: Feb 5, 1938.

               Survived by his wife June, daughter Natalie and son Steven.
               Buried in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Pocatello.
               Career History:  Joined the Navy in 1956.   Retired Navy in 1976.  Odell then
               worked as a Public Safety Officer at Idaho State University for 15 years before
               retiring. 

     Paul Edward Darius, MMC(SS) - Passed away December 10, 2012 in San Jose, California.
               Born:  Jan 1, 1935.

     John Wayne Davis, EM1(SS) - Passed away May 14, 2011 in DeSoto, Missouri.

     Archie L. Denson, MSCM(SS) – Passed  away on February 27, 2016

                Career History: A native of Columbus, Georgia where he completed school and

                enlisted in the Navy. He served on nine different submarines, served as Chief of the

                Boat, and retired with 30 years of service. His second career was with the US Postal

                Service where his also retired.

 

     Terrence C. Dering, STSC(SS) – Passed away February 5, 1995 in Haines, Florida.

                Born: 1939 in Hinsdale, Illinois.

                Career History: After 22 years of service he retired from the Navy.  After his

                retirement he worked as an electrician for Abbott & True Electrical Co. in Orlando,

                Florida. He was a member of VFW Post 4225, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, both

                in Kissimmee, Florida a former bot scout master for Poinciana Boy Scout Troop No.

                276, and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association of Naval Retirees.

 

 

     Daniel O. Deuel, ETN2(SS) - Passed away March 9, 2014 in Avon Park, Florida.
               Born:  Apr 21, 1950.

     Eric Myles Dewey, MM3(SS) - Passed away May 4, 2011 in Mission Hills, California.

     Michael Henry Diamond, MM2(SS) - Passed away August 30, 2009 in Surprise, Arizona.
               Born:  May 16, 1941.

     Captain Robert W. Dickieson, Capt - Passed away October 3, 2004 in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
               Born:  Feb 6, 1925.
               Blue Crew Commanding Officer.
               Dates Aboard:  2nd patrol 1965.   One patrol and transferred to USS Kamehameha.
               The Captain is survived by his wife Alice, three daughters Jan Dickieson, Peggy

               Bodin,  Cathy Hasbun and his son Jeff.
               Career History:  Bob enlisted in the Navy in 1942.  He graduated from the U.S. Naval
               Academy in 1947.  He served on an AKA and an AO before going to

               Submarine School in 1949.  As a junior officer, he served on the USS Sea Cat,

               Angler, Icefish and Hardhead  He next served as Executive Officer of

               the Stickleback, Bream and Scamp.  This was followed by command of the USS

               Sculpin, Grant, Kamehmeha, Vallejo, Nereus and Fleet Submarine
               Training Facility, Pearl Harbor.  Captain Dickieson retired in 1973 while on CINCPAC 
               Staff, having completed 30 years of service at the age of 47.  In addition to

               graduating from the Naval Academy, he earned a Master’s Degree in Physics from the

               Naval Postgraduate School and the University of California’s Radiation Laboratory

               at Berkeley.  To prepare for retirement, Captain Dickieson earned a Master’s Degree

               in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii.  He also earned his Master
              Mariner license from the U.S. Coast Guard.  After leaving the Navy, he was

              Vice President for Operations and Maintenance for the inter-island hydrofoil
              company, Sea Flite.  After serving a two-year apprenticeship, he formed his own

              Company to represent owners, insurance companies, classification societies and

              governments of foreign merchant ships calling in Hawaii.   He had a dredging company

              for a short time.  He owned Bob Dickieson’s Yamaha Marine in the late 1980’s.  He

              served as a subject matter expert for the American Boat and Yacht Council.  His last

              business endeavor acted on behalf of the U.S. Department of Labor in the matter

              of certifying cranes used in long shoring. The Captain’s personal interests included

              participation in the Windward Orchid Society as its Treasurer, the Navy League of the

              United States, the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association, the  

              Navy Submarine League, the Pacific Fleet Submarine Memorial Association,
              and the U.S. Submarine Veterans Inc.  He was a private pilot, who was known

              on occasion to have flown beer into the leper colony on Molokai.  He is a plank owner

              for the Battleship Missouri Memorial.  He served as a Hawaiian delegate to the

              national GOP convention in 1996.
              Captain Dickieson was an avid lover of history and travel.   His

              travels included Australia, Alaska, China, Antarctica, Scandinavia, Europe, Tahiti,

              and Bora Bora.  
              His shipmates all agree that he was an extraordinary man.

     Terry Lee Dillard, TM2(SS) - Passed away June 14, 2012 in Springfield, Illinois.
               Born:  Aug 7, 1941.

               Survived by wife Cheryl, son Tim and daughter Amy.

               Buried in Cooperstown Cemetery in Cooperstown, Illinois.


     Marvin W. Dine, HM1(SS) - Passed away March 15, 1999 in Everett, Washington.
               Born:  Sept 7, 1941.

               Career History:  Achieved the rank of HMC(SS).

     William N. Doerrer Jr., ENCS(SS) - Passed away February 1, 2015 in Panama City, Florida.
               Born:  Mar 23, 1930.
               Nckname:  "W.T."

               Dates Aboard:  07/63 to 12/65 (2 patrols).

               Survived by wife Mary, daughters Terri, Janet and son Keith.
               Career History:  Served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1976.  Served aboard the 

               USS Quillback SS-424, USS Gar SS-206, USS Patrick Henry SSBN-599, USS U.S. 

               Grant SSBN-631 and the USS Halibut SSN-587.  Also served on sea-going tugs,

               oilers and consecutive tours in Vietnam maintaining patrol river boats for special

              forces.

       Richard Stover Donnell III, ICCS(SS) – Passed away July 10, 2015 in Uncasville,  

             Connecticut

             Born: April 27, 1956 in Hamilton, Ohio.

            Dates Aboard:  1979 to 1980

           Career History: Richard. was a graduate of Talawanda High School in Oxford, Ohio.

          After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and graduated from recruit training      

           command Great Lakes, Illinois in 1976 before attending Nuclear Power Submarine

           School from November 1976 through February 1979. After completing Nuclear Power

           School, Richard spent the remainder of his Navy career at the Groton Submarine Base. He

           served aboard the USS Grant (SSBN-631), the USS Tullibee (SSN-597) and the USS

           Miami (SSN-755). Richard also served as an instructor at the Submarine School and was

           twice assigned to Submarine Squadron Two. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1995 and

           began a second career with AZ Corporation of Stonington. Richard enjoyed reading,

           running, traveling with his family, collecting sea glass and visiting lighthouses. He also

           enjoyed restoring MG sports cars and tinkering with his 1969 Z-28 Chevy Camaros.

 

     rederick Michael Dorrah, QM1(SS) - Passed away June 24, 2014 in Trail, Oregon.

               Career History:   Retired from U.S. Navy as Chief Petty Officer.

     George Gylling Dover
, ETR3(SS) - Passed away July 3, 2001 in Phoenix, Arizona.
               Born:  Oct 11, 1942.
               Gold Crew Plank Owner.
               Dates Aboard:  1964 to 1967.
               George is survived by his wife Patricia, a son James and two daughters, Trisha Taylor
               and Lenna-Kaye Himmelstein and six grandchildren.
               Career History:  George joined the Navy in 1961 and retired in 1984 as a Senior 
               Chief Petty Officer.  He served aboard four FBM submarines and made 18 patrols over
               his 23 years of submarine service.  He was then employed as a senior logistics analyst

               With General Dyanmics, E/B Division, for 17 years.  He was a Christian and enjoyed

               reading, particularly historical and scientific documentaries.  He was an avid reader

               of Louis L’Amour and science fiction books.  George was a man of integrity, a sense

               of humor and a devoted family man.  He will be missed by all.

 James Edward Edens, YNC(SS) – Passed away January 18, 2016 in Boise, Idaho

               Born: October 20, 1922 in Tullahoma, Tennessee

               Buried in State Veterans Cemetery, Boise, Idaho

               Survived by his wife Lillian of 70 years; children Judy Last, Susan Santos, Barbara

               Mendiola, Stephen, and Theresa Bush. He was preceded in death by his daughter

               Kathleen Williams and sisters Pauline and Alma.
               Career History: Jim enlisted in the Navy January 1942 at the beginning of World War

               II. He retired from the Navy in 1970 and went to work for the Boise School District and

               then latter in a hardware store in Crouch, Idaho.  Jim had a very strong work ethic from

               childhood to his death. He loved the Navy, especially the Submarine Service.

 

    James Frazer Eddy, EMCM(SS) - Passed away February 24, 1995 in New London,

               Connecticut.
               Born:  Aug 13,1947.

     Gary Lewis Elmore, IC2(SS) - Passed away December 23, 2005 in North Carolina.
                  Born:  Feb 25, 1952.

Survived by wife Marty Wildes Elmore.
               Gary received a military burial at sea.
               Career History:  Gary was born in Munich, Germany, a military dependent.
               He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1975 and was honorably discharged
               in 1981.  After retirement, he worked in the shipping department for the 
               Godfrey Group in Clayton, NC.  Always willing to lend a helping hand 
               to others and was well liked by all who met him.  He will be dearly missed.

               Career History:  Graduated from Naval Academy in 1961.  Retired as a Captain.
               Served aboard the USS U.S. Grant, USS Patrick Henry, USS Dallas and the 

               USS Orion.  After retiring from the Navy, he worked at Rocky Flats Environmental
               Technology Site in Colorado for 7 years.

     Albert Day Ferris, III, MMC(SS) - Passed away January 6, 2010 in St. Mary's, Georgia.

               Career History:  Served 29 years in U.S. Navy.  Retired as Commander.
 
     Howard Julius Karl Fichtl, FTCM(SS) - Passed away March 19, 2010 in Cocoa Beach,

               Florida.

     George E. Filbey, Jr., EM2(SS) - Passed away December 1, 1997 in York, Pennsylvania.

     Thomas Patrick Fitzgerald, Captain - Passed away February 19, 2009 in San Diego, CA.
               Born:  June 3, 1938.

               Dates Aboard:   1966 to 1968.
               Captain Fitzgerald is survived by his wife Pat, four children, five grandchildren and
               one great-grandson.
               Career History:   Tom served in the U.S. Navy for 28 years retiring in 1989.   
               He served aboard the USS U.S. Grant, USS Canisteo and USS Telfair.
               He was serving at the Naval Supply Center in Norfolk, Virginia at the time of his
               retirement.  He was an avid sailor, world traveler and loved to walk and bike in 
               the San Diego area.

     Allen Shane Foraker, CDR - Passed away February 17, 2014 in Temple, Texas.
               Born:  Aug 22, 1942.
               Blue Crew Nav/Ops Officer.
               Dates Aboard:  1977 to 1980.
               Survived by wife Elizabeth, sons Terrence and Andrew.
               Career History:  Served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1989.  Achieved rank of 
               Commander.  Served on the USS Razorback SS394, USS Von Steuben SSBN632,
               USS Casmir Pulaski SSBN633, USS U.S. Grant SSBN631 and USS Ohio SSBN726.
               Enlisted in the Navy and rose to the rank of MMCS(SS).  Graduated from University
               of Washington in 1971 with B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering through NESEP
               program.  He received a commission and rose to the rank of Commander.
 
     Lawrence A. Forehand, MSC(SS) - Passed away October 18, 2011 in Albuquerque, New

               Mexico.
               Born:  Dec 28, 1943.
               Blue and Gold Crews.
               Dates Aboard:  1967 to 1971 and 1978 to 1980.
               Survived by his wife Wanda.
               Career History:  Served on USS Ronquil SS396, USS Simon Bolivar SSBN641, 
               USS U.S. Grant SSBN631, USS James Madison SSBN627 and the USS Francis Scott
               Key SSBN657.

       Captain John Lawrence From, Jr., Captain -  Passed away March 19, 2004 in McLean,

               Virginia.
               Born:  Mar 20, 1921.
               Blue Crew Commanding Officer.  Plank Owner.  1st Blue Crew Captain.
               Dates Aboard:  1964 to 1965.
               Captain From is survived by his wife Mary Jane and three children, Deborah J.

               Fletcher, 
               Tina L. Egge and Michael E. From.  The Captain was laid to rest at Arlington National 
               Cemetery with full military honors on March 30, 2004. 
               Career History:  Captain From was a native of Norfolk and a 1943 graduate of

               the Naval Academy.  He received a Master’s Degree from George

               Washington University.  He made six war patrols in the Pacific in WWII and

               later commanded a diesel-electric submarine.  In the 1960’s, he commanded the USS

               George Washington, the first Polaris Missile Nuclear Submarine.  He reported aboard

               the USS Grant in 1964.  His final naval assignment was as the commanding officer of

               the Naval Submarine Base at Pearl Harbor.  Among his decorations received were two

              Legion of Merit Awards.  He retired in 1972 to McLean, Virginia where he
              worked 12 years as the Vice President of Research and Development for

             Science Applications International Corporation. 

      Harlan Edward Frost, TM2(SS) - Passed away July 31, 2008 in Council, Idaho.
               Born:  Sept 16, 1944.
               Nickname:  "Jack".
               Gold Crew Plank Owner.
               Dates Aboard:  1964 to 1967 (6 patrols).

               Buried at Riverside Cemetery, Union City, Michigan.
