     Edward A. Kelemen, EN1(SS) - Passed away March 18, 2005 in La Mesa, California.
               Born:  March 9, 1930.

               Ed is survived by his daughter Terri-Ann and son Carl.
               Career History:  Ed retired after 22 years Navy service.  He was the first man to

               report to the Grant Gold Crew in July of 1963.

  Alfred Jess Kirk, TM1(SS) - Passed away November12, 2002 in Owings Mills,

                Maryland.

     John Conrad Klein IV, LT - Passed away March 3, 2011 in Monterey, California.
               Born:  Jan 7, 1951.

               Survived by his wife Annamaria and 3 daughters.
               Career History:  Active Duty from 1974 to 1980.  Naval Reserves from 1980 to

               2004.
               Retired as a Captain.

     Wesley Eugene Korpi, YNC(SS) - Passed away October 9, 2010 in Mystic, Connecticut.
               Born:  June 12, 1938.

               Dates Aboard:  1984 to 1985.
               Survived by wife Gretchen, daughter Katrina and two grandchildren.
               Buried in Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic, Connecticut.
               Career History:  Wesley served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps including a

               toui n Vietnam, followed by 23 years in the U.S. Navy.  After retiring from the 

               Navy, he worked for Ledyard Public School's maintenance department until his 
               retirement as Director in 2004.   He was respected by all and considered a true
               "Mr. Fix-It" possessing remarkable ability to repair things.  

     Conrad C. Kostishak, CS1(SS) - Passed away June 25, 2005 in Bisbee, Arizona.

     Victor J. Liddon, MMCS(SS) - Passed away July 18, 2013 in Boston, Massachusetts

               Survived by wife Margaret and four children and their families.     
               Career History:  Served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1992.  Served aboard the 
               SSBN-598, SSBN-631, SSBN-642 and SS-350.  After his service of 24 years,
               he was employed at Electric Boat and later at Lee Company in Groton, Connecticut.

     Richard Charles Lightle, RMC(SS) - Passed away September 18, 2013 in New Haven,

               Connecticut.
               Born:   Mar 10, 1944. Blue Crew.
               Dates Aboard:  1974 to 1977.
               Survived by his wife Linda, son John and daughter Laura.
               Career History:  Retired after 20 years from the U.S. Navy in 1982 as RMCS(SS).
               After his service, he was employed by Electric Boat in Groton as an Engineer.

                 He retired after 25 years at Electric Boat in 2006. He was a member of SubVets of

                Groton.

         Russell Oscar Lobaugh, Jr., ETCA(SS) - Passed away March 28, 1975 in Roselle,  

                Illinois.
               Born:  Nov 24, 1927.

     Avery Kenneth Loposer, LCDR -

               Dates Aboard: 1 963 to 1966

              Survived by his wife Judy; his daughters, Deb, Dinah, Amy s and son, Pete, as well 

              as their five grandchildren and one great-grandson

           Career History: Ken graduated from high school in 1947 and attended Springhill

           College for one year. He then entered the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.,

            graduating in June 1952. He then began a Navy career of 27-plus years, serving

           first on the USS Dortch near the end of the Korean War.  He entered submarine

           training in July 1954, and subsequently served on the USS Sea Poacher.  Shortly

           after, he was assigned to Nuclear Power Training and qualified as chief reactor

           operator.  He then served on the USS Tulibee and in 1963 was assigned to the USS

                USS Snook, and the USS John Adams. In 1972, after 20 years of sea duty,

                Ken was assigned to Washington, D.C., as a student at the Industrial College of the

                 Armed Forces, then three years as deputy program manager for the new Trident

                System Project.  This was followed by a three-year assignment as the first

                 commanding officer of the new Trident Training Facility in Bangor, Wash. Retiring

                from active duty in 1979, Ken worked for Data-Design Labs and consulted for the

                Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He also worked for McLaughlin Research Corp

                 and Honeywell, Inc., in Poulsbo, Wash. He became a member of the Poulsbo Rotary

                Club and served for six years as a member/chairman of the board of trustees of

                 Olympic College in Bremerton. During his last 10 years Ken was active in the Walla

                Walla Rotary, Submarines Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Reserve Officers

                Association.

 

          Ronald L. Lowrey, ST3(SS) - Passed away April 25, 2004 in Aurora, Colorado.

         Survived by his wife Vicky; sons Ryan, Jeremy and Justin, and four Grandchildren.

         Career History: Richard served in the U. S. Naval Submarine Service, worked for

          Hughes Aircraft Company, Martin Mayetta. and founded and ran Starburst

          Technologies for 12 years. Richard was an accomplished author, and was humbled

          that he could be the voice of the veterans and worriers who protected our country

     Samuel M. Malloy, MT1(SS) - Passed away May 12, 2006 in Pensacola, Florida.

      Patrick George Maloney. HMC(SS) – Passed away after a battle of lung cancer on  

                August 14, 2015 in Davenport, Washington.

               Born: Riverside, California on June 15, 1939.
               Nickname: “Doc”

               Blue Crew.
               Dates Aboard:  1967 to 1971.

               Survived by sister Kathleen; sons Brian and Durwin; daughter Rhonda; nieces and

               nephews; five grandchildren and two great children.

               Career History: During the 1960’s he served aboard the USS Kearsarge (CVS33 ),

               which took part in recovery of some of the US Mercury space capsules. He then

               served aboard the USS Ulysses S. Grant (SSBN631). After retiring for the Navy in

              1976 he attended Medics Northwest School in Seattle, Washington and became a

              Physician’s Assistant (PA). He moved to Davenport, Washington where he worked  

              as a PA until  2005. Pat loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing,

              boating NASCAR and riding his Harley motorcycles. He rode one of his six

              motorcycles in all the states, except Hawaii.

 

      William H. Manker, Jr., QMSN(SS) - Passed away September 1, 2002 in Jacksonville,

               Illinois.

                1987  in Charleston, South Carolina.

      Robert Aitkin McAllister, Lieutenant – Passed away November 20, 2014 in Coeur  

               D’Alene, Idaho

              Buried with full military honors was held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery

             Career History: Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduating high school in 1960  

             and attended training in many states.  He worked many years at the Groton Submarine

            Base in Connecticut. After many years “out to sea”, Bob retired from the Navy as a

            Lieutenant in 1981, and began a new career at Analysis & Technologies in North

            Stonington, CT.  His hobbies including drawing and woodworking in his younger

            years where he was known by his sons for the elaborate drawings of automobiles, and

            by many he worked with or knew by how he carved names out of blocks of wood.  He

            would show off his softer side by creating his own greeting cards and including quotes

            and personal photographs.

     Whitney B. Merritt, TM3(SS) – passed away on August 7, 2015  in Spring Hill, Florida

      George Andrew Miller, MMC(SS) – Passed away at 64 of cancer in Fincastle, Virginia

             Career History: After his service to his country, he worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad

              until his retirement in 1998.

 

      James E. Miller, RM2(SS) – Passed away June 13, 2017 in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.

           Career History: James loved the lord with all his heart a Holy Ghost Christian man of

                The Pentecostal Church of South Pittsburg and was very proud to have served 10 years

                 in the United States Navy. James and his wife Theresa were in Lighthouse Singer

                 Ministry for many years traveling around the Nation. Interment was at The National

                Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN

 

          Keith Wayne Miller, ET1(SS) - Passed away April 22, 1999 in Madison, Ohio.
               Born:  Aug 16, 1943.

          Roger Allen Miller, QMC(SS) - Passed away January 27, 2014 in Somersworth, New

               Hampshire.
               Born:  Apr 30, 1939.
               Blue Crew.
               Dates Aboard:  1980 to 1985.
               Survived by his wife Gloria, sons Robin and Jerry, and daughter Lisa.
               Buried in Danville National Cemetery in Danville, Illinois with full military honors.
               Career History:  Served 28 years in the U.S. Navy.  Served on board the
               USS Sablefish (SS-303), USS Triton (SSN-586), USS Bang (SS-385), USS Daniel
               Boone (SSBN-629), USS Dolphin (AGSS-555), USS Haddock (SSN-621), and the
               USS Grant (SSBN-631).  Received the Presidential Unit Citation on 10 May 1960 
               along with 187 USS Triton shipmates upon completion of the world's first

               submerged circumnavigation of the earth lasting 60 days and 21 hours.

     Lawrence Lathrop Molloy, MS1(SS) - Passed away February 20, 2011 in San Diego,

               California.
               Born:  March 10, 1944.
               Nickname:   "Larry".

               Dates Aboard:  12/80 to 05/84. (7 patrols)
               Survived by wife Bette, sons Michael, John and Phillip, daughters Mary, Deborah,
               Laura and Ruth.
               Ashes scattered at sea by U.S. Navy.

               Career History:  Served four years in US Air Force.  Was a member of the  

               Michigan and North Dakota Air National Guard units before joining the

               Navy.  Served in U.S. Navy aboard the USS U.S. Grant SSBN631, USS Skamp

              SSN588 and the Hyman G. Rickover SSN709.  Retired as CWO2, SC in 1995.  

     George Charles Monroe, ETN2(SS) - Passed away 23 Mar 2015 in Pineville, Louisiana.
               Born:  Oct 14, 1948.

               Dates Aboard:  1970 to 1973.

               Survived by four daughters, Heather, Stacy, Christi and Cathleen.
               Buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pineville, Louisiana.
               Career History:   Retired from the Navy after 20 years of service as an ET1(SS).
               After Naval service, George worked as an Electronics Instructor for Louisiana
               Vo-Tech school where he also retired.  He loved riding motorcycles and watching 

               movies.  He was a lifetime member of the USS U.S. Grant Alumni Association.

     Ralph Richard Morris, LTJG - Passed away June 1, 2004 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
               Born:  Sept 8 , 1942.

               Survived by his wife Chrissy.
               Buried in Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe, Hawaii.
               Career History:   Served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1989.  Retired in 
               1989 as a Commander.  Was an architect with Pacific Architects.

     Malcolm Maurice Mozingo, YNC(SS) - Passed away January 22, 2013 in Palmetto,

                Florida.
               Born: May 6, 1927.

     James Melvin Mumford, EM2(SS) - Passed away December 9, 2011 in Albany, Oregon.

               Career History:   James served 20 years in the Navy retiring as SH1(SW).

     Roger Alton Musgrave, ET2(SS) - Passed away May 2, 1994 in Los Angeles, California.
               Born:  Sept 1, 1943.

     David Elmer Nielsen, CWO4(SS) – Passed away November 11, 2016 in Bremerton,

               Washington.

                    Born: March 20, 1941 in LeMars, Iowa .

                   Dates Aboard:  1972 to1973

                  Career History: David graduated from Paullina High in 1959 and joined the

                  Navy in January of 1960. David had an outstanding 30-year Navy career which

                  began in service craft in the early sixties as an engineman. He then entered the

                  submarine service and became a machinist mate and went on to Master Chief,

                  serving as COB (Chief of the Boat) on the SSBN/SSN-609 Sam Houston, and

                  hen to warrant officer ranks attaining CWO4, the highest rank attainable by an

                 enlisted man at that time. Following his retirement, Dave spent the next 20 years

                  in car sales and management. He loved traveling in his RV, golfing, playing  

                 cards, walking the mall with his buddies, farming yearly in Iowa and telling a 

                 good joke. Dave belonged to the Elks, Sub Vets, VFW and Fleet Reserve.

 

         Stuart Allen Neitzel, STS1(SS) - Passed away September 20, 2013 in Jennings, Louisiana.
                 Born:  Mar 3, 1948.

                 Buried at Cushman Cemetery in Marksville, Louisiana.

     Thomas Reed Nitzsche, ETC(SS) - Passed away November 9, 1990 in Montgomery, Ohio.
               Born:  Feb 22, 1936.

               Survived by wife and two sons.
               Buried in Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.

      Jeffrey Francis Oakins, FTB2(SS) – Passed away May 14, 2016 in Lafayette, Colorado

                from complications of bladder cancer.

                Born: May 23, 1943.

                Nickname: Jeff

                Dates Aboard:  1963 to 1966.

                Buried in Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado (Grand Junction) with

                Military Honors.

                Career History: Served as an FTM3 and qualified in submarines while aboard the

                USS U.S. Grant (SSBN631) and also served on the USS Stonewall Jackson

                (SSBN634) from 1966 to 1969.

 

      Rex Dale O’Dell, YN1(SS) - Passed away February 4, 2004 in Michigan City, Michigan.
               Born:  Jan 19, 1931.
               Nickname:  “Yeo” and “Digger”.

               Dates Aboard:  08/63 to 04/66.  (3 patrols)
               Rex is survived by his wife Barbara Jean, two sons, Dan and Gerald and his 
               daughter Debra Kay.  Military Honors burial in Napoleon, Michigan.
               Career History:  Rex enlisted in the Navy in March of 1948.  He served 21 years
               and was honorably discharged in October of 1969.  He served on the USS George

               MacKenzie (DD836), USS Pompon (SSR267), USS Tullibee (SS284) and the USS

               U.S. Grant (SSBN631).  
               Memories:  Rex enjoyed playing the guitar, camping and studying military

               history.  He was well  liked and respected by all his shipmates.  He will be missed.

     William Thomas O'Riley, EMC(SS) - Passed away November 27, 1988 in Kansas City,

               Kansas.
               Born:  June 06, 1939.
               Blue Crew.
               Dates Aboard:  1966 to 1969.
               Survived by his son James and daughter Debbie.  Retired as CWO4(SS).
